Bladefence continues market expansion in Canada with major investment

Written by Sanna Heinonen

Bladefence’s parent company, Finnish skylift company Janneniska Oy, has made a multimillion euro investment to Bladefence in order to support the market expansion in Canada.

Janneniska_Bladefence_windpower.jpgBladefence opened an office in Toronto, Ontario last year, bringing its expertise in wind turbine blade repairs and maintenance in cold climate to the Canadian market. Combining the aerial platform access with innovative repair methods, the company provides fast and reliable maintenance service and can operate in challenging weather conditions. After the promising first year, the new investment allows further expansion to the market, and brings two more 90-meter aerial platform units to be used in wind turbine blade service operations, as well as in other industries.

“Building on a successful market entry in 2016, expanding our fleet of 90-meter aerial platforms is a logical expansion of our growth strategy and will allow us to better serve our customers. Canada has a vibrant and growing wind power market and we look forward to providing both existing and new customers with high quality blade repair services and cutting edge efficiency.

We see tremendous opportunity in Canada not only within Wind. Complementary industries such as infrastructure construction, utility, mining, and oil and gas all provide additional opportunities for future expansion”, comments Bladefence Canada’s Country Manager Dave Zanier.

Bladefence’s Managing Director Ville Karkkolainen comments; “The first customer projects in 2016 verified our view of the potential in the Canadian wind energy market. Bladefence’s wind turbine blade maintenance concept and cold climate knowledge combined with Janneniska’s skylift expertise is perfectly suited for Canadian market. The reception has been exceptionally good and with the support of this new investment, we expect significant growth in the coming years.”
